I bought it as a solution to kill mold, as the promotional material indicated the unit could penetrate through walls and kill mold at the source. It works! A very effective solution. I run my unit 24X7 as it helps clean the air in many ways. The trick is to buy a unit sized to the space you are treating.
After these 4 years or so my SS-3X has lost some its power and I will be upgrading to the NS series, as they are touted to last longer. The way I quickly tell if the unit is working is to put a rubber band around it. It used to be that the rubber band would break after a few days or so. Now it takes much longer before it breaks. Yes, the emissions cause rubber to deteriorate, so be careful where you place the unit.
